Abstract

Giant African land snails are a fascinating group of molluscs known for their impressive size and diverse phenotypic traits. This review comprehensively explores the morphological traits, characteristics and variations observed within these snails. The intricate details of shell morphology, including shape, size, composition of the shell, shell coloration and pattern, shell aperture and whorls, as well as the body characteristics, focusing on the skin coloration and body weight were considered. By synthesizing existing research and highlighting areas for future investigation, this review provides a valuable resource for researchers, conservationists, snail breeder and farmers, and enthusiasts alike, contributing to a deeper understanding of phenotypic landscape of these remarkable species.
